One Now Dyes

Dyes and One Now's Commitment to Sustainability

One Now is committed to using dyes that align with its mission of promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

Here's how we approach the use of dyes in our products:

  • Natural Dyes: Whenever possible, One Now prioritizes the use of natural dyes derived from plants, minerals, or other natural sources. These dyes are typically biodegradable, non-toxic, and have a lower environmental impact compared to synthetic dyes.

  • Low-Impact Dyes: When natural dyes are not feasible, One Now opts for low-impact synthetic dyes that have been carefully selected for their reduced environmental impact and safety profile.

  • Non-Toxic and Hypoallergenic: All dyes used by One Now are non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and free from harmful chemicals. This ensures the safety and well-being of both customers and the environment.

  • Transparency: One Now is committed to transparency and provides clear information about the types of dyes used in its products. This allows customers to make informed choices about the products they purchase.

  • Continuous Improvement: One Now continually researches and explores new developments in sustainable and eco-friendly dyes to further minimize its environmental impact.

By adhering to these principles, One Now ensures that the dyes used in its products are safe, sustainable, and aligned with its mission of promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle for people and the planet.

Here are some natural sources for dyes that produce lasting, vibrant colors:

  • Plants:
    • Roots: Madder (red), Turmeric (yellow), Alkanet (purple)
    • Leaves: Indigo (blue), Eucalyptus (yellow, green, brown), Spinach (green)
    • Flowers: Marigold (yellow, orange), Safflower (red, pink), Hibiscus (red, purple)
    • Fruits and Berries: Pomegranate (yellow, green), Elderberry (purple), Buckthorn (yellow, green, brown)
    • Bark: Oak (brown, black), Logwood (purple, black)

  • Minerals:
    • Iron: (brown, black)
    • Ochre: (yellow, brown, red)

Remember that the specific color and vibrancy achieved can depend on factors like the mordant used, the dyeing process, and the type of fabric being dyed. It's important to us to experiment and research to find the best combination for the desired results.

One Now Stickers

Yes, it is possible to make stickers that align with our stated rules. Here's how:

Materials: The sticker material itself, as well as the adhesive, are made from sustainable and eco-friendly materials.

With options like recycled paper, plant-based plastics, and/or compostable materials.

  • Production: The production process for the stickers are environmentally responsible, minimizing waste and using sustainable practices.
  • Ingredients: When the stickers have any inks or dyes, these are derived from natural sources and be non-toxic.

It is important to us to research and source suppliers who specialize in eco-friendly sticker materials and production processes. By carefully selecting materials and production methods, stickers are created that align with One Now's mission of sustainability and health.

Here are a few options for eco-friendly adhesives that we used for the stickers, aligning with One Now's mission:

  • Plant-based adhesives: Adhesives made from renewable resources like starch, cellulose, or plant-based resins are our sustainable option.
  • Water-activated adhesives: These adhesives are typically made from plant-based materials and become sticky when moistened with water. They are often used for eco-friendly packaging and labels.
  • Soy-based adhesives: Adhesives made from soybean oil can be a renewable and biodegradable option.
  • Acrylic adhesives with recycled content: Some acrylic adhesives are now being made with recycled plastic content, offering a more sustainable option compared to traditional acrylic adhesives.

It's important to us to continue our research and select adhesives that are not only eco-friendly but also perform well for the intended use of the stickers. Factors to consider include the type of surface the stickers will be applied to, the desired level of adhesion, and the overall durability of the adhesive.

Here are some sustainable alternatives to traditional vinyl stickers:

  • Paper Stickers:
    • Recycled Paper: Stickers made from recycled paper are a common eco-friendly option. They are printed with soy-based or vegetable-based inks for added sustainability.
    • Tree-Free Paper: Stickers made from alternative fibers like bamboo, hemp, or sugarcane are available and offer a unique and sustainable option.

  • Plant-Based Stickers:
    • PLA (Polylactic Acid) Stickers: PLA is a biodegradable plastic derived from renewable resources like corn starch. It offers a more sustainable alternative to traditional petroleum-based plastics.
    • Cellulose Acetate Stickers: Cellulose acetate is derived from plant fibers and is biodegradable and compostable under the right conditions.

  • Biodegradable Stickers:
    • Compostable Stickers: Some stickers are designed to be fully compostable, breaking down into organic matter in a composting environment. These are made from plant-based materials and adhesives.

  • Fabric Stickers:
    • Organic Cotton Stickers: Stickers made from organic cotton offer a natural and sustainable option. They are printed with eco-friendly inks and are often soft and textured.

Additional Considerations:

  • Adhesives: We look for stickers with adhesives made from natural or plant-based materials that are non-toxic and biodegradable.
  • Inks: We choose stickers printed with soy-based, vegetable-based, or water-based inks that are free of harmful chemicals.
  • Packaging: We opt for stickers that come in minimal or recycled packaging to reduce waste.

Sustainability of a sticker depends on the combination of materials, production processes, and end-of-life options. When we are choosing sustainable stickers, we consider the entire lifecycle of the product and prioritize options that have the least impact on the environment.
